Just got a call from a buddy of mine that's at the track tonight and he said they just announced that the track property has been sold to the Florida DOT. They said the oval track will be done for good at the end of the year but they are gonna see if they can rent/lease the drag strip from the DOT for another year if they can.

Problem is, all we ever do is bitch about what they do, no one ever does anything about it. We could legitimately speak out for the tracks considering they are legal and all, but I bet the only thing you hear is bitching and nothing being done . I'll start bitching too if the Lakeland 1/8th mile gets shut down.

 

I'd be willing to go to a meeting if they were to bring it to a public forum, but we are way past that point now.. Obviously the money was more of an interest to the owner of the land vs. keeping the strip open or they would've asked everyone to come speak out on the subject when it was brought before the county..

also, unless they plan to continue the 1/8 mile stuff @ BMP I wouldn't expect it to increase substantially.. Hope Todd does it right as far as pulling the other events to BMP, only time will tell...

there was a petition going around, i signed it but i guess the all mighty dollar wins again as always..........


really stinks that sunshine will be gone eventually...........
