Stock Suspension Race on 06/11
Stock Suspension Race on 06/11
Ok I've got to boast just a little..
Took the car to the Stock Suspension race @ Sunshine race friday night.
Car ran good (minus forgetting to turn the bottle on and running a stellar 9.39 pass, and fuel pressure problem on a 6.2x run).
We qualified #1 with a 5.93, had a bye in the first round, beat Corky in the 55 with another 5.9x (thanks a little to a .460 tree.)
Met up with an older Camaro in the finals, was a good race but unfortunately he had me covered by a little. Put almost a 1/10th on him at the tree (.480 to a .488 ) to try and keep it close, but got edged out at the traps my 5.91 to his 5.77 (figure in the .08 I had on him at the tree and it was a pretty close race).
I'm very happy with the car's performance and we're just getting the feel for the combination. Now we just need to figure out where the 60' times went...
Big thanks to Joe and Rob at Fordspeed for all of the time and effort they've put into this project..
See you guys in BMP soon...
Derek

Actually the 55 was running off pace all night. The track wasn't all that bad, it was a tuning problem that kept them from running their usual times.
The Camaro was green. Can't remember the guys name but he was runner-up at the last Stock Suspension race on May 14th to Mike Miller.
John and the ACME boys haven't been out in a little while. Maybe working on a new combination or something. Anyone know the story?
Good job Derek. Not too bad for a only handfull of passes under your belt with the new combination. We'll continue to get it sorted out.

Yea, the car count has been a little low the last couple of races. There were only 7 cars this past Friday night and I believe only 7 at the race the month before.
I know that Coady is building a new car since he wrecked his at the May 14th race. I talked to him on Friday and he is hoping to have it ready for the next race but doesn't know if it will be finished in time.
Hopefully some more people start to come out and race before Todd decides to do away with the class.

I know some of these guys are faster than me, as they say it's better to be lucky than good sometimes..
We've probably got 8 full passes on the bottle on this motor, so there is still more in it. I'm also seeing if Todd will listen a little and give the small blocks a weight break (100lbs maybe?). 3200lbs across the board I think is just a little too broad, yeah they might have to tech a little more but I think they'd pull out more cars if there was more parity.
Either way, it's all good fun.
