Any ways, I am currently using the King Cobra clutch in both of my cars. So far, the Cobra is doing the job and doing it well.

Funny, but my car also sat for about 6 months after it was put in. I was waiting for Tune Tech to help me finish some projects and the car just sat in his shop. Maybe that's the key... Don't let a spec sit....

I had the Centerforce DF and it held for about a dozen passes on slicks and alot passes on DR's. But After about 2 yrs it started to do the same thing yours did. IMO I think a major part of durability is what the clutch disk is made of. Spec 1 and CF DF are both made from a organic material which isn't strong for the abuse we put them through. If you really don't want an agressive clutch, get some type of kevlar disk. Or if you want a stronger clutch go with either a carbon fiber, ceramic, or sintered iron. But clutch chatter will mostly likely be happening on above listed clutches. I have a Stage 3 carbon fiber. It grabs like a mofo. Holds 5500 clutch dumps on BFG's and will be testing 7k dumps on slicks soon. -Mark

Anyone who can suggest a good brand to go with let me know,I am still deciding here and the guy who I am gonna buy the clutch from didn't call me today so I got till tomorrow or later to decide on what I will be buying. I do not want to drag race at the moment but I do need a good working clutch to hold up to the occasional road wear and tear of a 20 year old who loves the power he has already.
Thanks all
Chris
Mcleod has a good kevlar clutch. They have been making clutches for years and developed a good reputation. I can't remember exactly but I believe it's under 280$.
Scott(Fordman) I think had a Ram kevlar clutch before the turbo was on the car. He was cutting low 1.6's and high 1.5's with that clutch. Don't know the price though. -Mark

Another casualty of the SPEC madness. Also known as the Fram of clutches. They are so well known the HAVE to be the best
I've heard way too many stories about SPEC failures to ever put one in my car. I suggest going to Bay City Clutch and tell them what you want. They'll custom make you whatever you want and its cheap.
