Default clutch "chatter"

ok, the little cricket like noise from the tranny is called chattering right....(thats waht i was told by a friend)

but regardless, its been making a sound just like a cricket for a while now, its only there when i take my foot all the way off the clutch, if i simply rest my foot there, the sound goes away (not engaging the clutch at all, just resting it there) and the sound increases its speed with the speed of the engine in case you were going to ask

so what is it that i need to do here? or what can i do? the clutch (and tranny for that matter) were just replace not too long ago, like back in january and its been doing it since late january early feb.

Sounds like the throwout bearing to me. It has been a while since I have been "in the know" with the SN95's, but I believe there is a re-enforced clutch fork which will help with the longevity of the throwout bearing. I know James @ racerelated can help you out, as he was the one who helped me with that issue many years ago.

Definately the throwout bearing. Every 5.0 I've ever owned has had this. Once I got Alan's brothers old 3 inch O/R X and 2 Chamber Flowmasters I didn't have to worry about that problem though.

Both my Mach and GT have the same problem. The throw out bearing is known to make this noise.

Get louder exhaust and the problem will go away!!

Mine does the same thing, the only thing I could do to stop the noise is rest my foot on it a little, but my flowmasters are broke in enough so where the noise isn't a problem unless I'm at a stop.

I have another problem with my clutch though.

Whenever I first start the car it makes a noise as if there is air coming out of the tires .. I know it's clutch related because when I press in the clutch pedal the noise stops or gets interupted. It just makes a pssssssssssssssssh noise on and off until the car warms up.

wtf is that?

It will only stop for a short time. I just installed a Spec Stage II in my GT, and it started making the noise within a few weeks. I even installed the Ford throw out bearing whic is said to be the best.
