Was out having some more fun with the powdercoat stuff...Once i get the engine out of the car to do the swap i'll finish all of the accessories and brackets and get a "finished product" pic. Until then, here's a little eye candy for you

I wish I had those things, definately seems like a worth while invesment because of all the people that like to have things powdercoated. Everything on my engine would be powdercoated if I had the shit I needed.

Is that a two coat finish, or are you getting that gloss in a single application?
I've got some chrome material and some clear that I have been wanting to monkey with.
The most expensive part of the powder coating is the oven. Do not try it in your wife's/girlfriend's/mom's kitchen. I buy all my powder from Pendry Powdercoating of the web.

I'd really like to do a few engine parts.

I use columbia coatings here in TN for most of the powder. I have found it to be some of the highest quality powder, and they will color match it if I need to (havent taken them up on that yet...but soon i may have some Laser Red)

Any particular reason you go with Pendry (i.e. customer service, quality of product, etc...)? What kind of setup are you using?

Honestly, I was just getting into the whole powdercoating thing, and I was tired of paying top dollar for the stuff from Eastwood. Some quick internet searching and I found Pendry. They do give good service and their prices are 1/2 of the mail order. They don't have the huge color spectrum, but seem to have what I need. I just dabble in it anyway, nothing professional.

yes. with the IR light getting powder on it wouldnt be a problem. it would probably take a lot more time as the block itself would have to reach 450 degrees, and thicker materials tend to take longer.
If you're wanting to get a show-type finish on your block, there is a guy up here with a 30's ford who base-coat/clear-coated his car with standard car paint (like the exterior of his car). It has been that way for 2 years and he hasnt had any problems with the paint burning or cracking... Oh, and it looks awesome.
