2005 Mustang 6 Months Away Will Ford Get It Right ?
Interesting article about how the new Mustang will be do or die for Ford.
So what do you think, will they get it right ?
As Ford Motor Co. and the Flat Rock plant it owns with Mazda Motor Corp. prepare to launch the 2005 Mustang in about six months, every effort is being made to ensure these are the most flawless Mustangs ever built.
In many ways, the Mustang launch epitomizes the pressure on all of Ford Motor Co. as it sets out to overhaul its neglected passenger car lineup, nurture a proud heritage and invest in a healthy future.
For this icon of the last 40 years, a favorite of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bill Ford -- and about 8 million other customers -- nothing is being left to chance.
"With Mustang, there's a lot of responsibility -- more than most launches, frankly, because the expectations are so high," said Phil Spender, president of the Flat Rock plant and a man who keeps photos of his '67 fastback Mustang on his desk with those of his wife and kids.
"Everyone knows what a Mustang is. They love it, and they just want nothing but the best

They just need to start out with the right type of forced induction with the next svt/svt replacement Mustang and everything will be fine. Factory Turbo V8 whaa?
They had better get it right. I think Ford is going to be in serious financial trouble if the '05 Mustang has the same kind of first year as the Focus. With all the hype over the last couple years for this redesign, the reputation of the company is basically riding on this new Mustang.

they already got it wrong by putting the TR3650 in it.. people will have the same issues the bullit/mach1 crowd is having and Ford will die.
T56 in V8s you dumb asses.. get with the 6 speed program..
i thin it will all depend on the dealers really.if thenormal price grouging takes place.. people will wait.. and they wont sell well at all..

Even with price gouging they will sell. There will be a ton of people who 'must have it now'. It'll suck to be them because that markup doesn't translate to residual value.
I think they'll be ok as long as they don't have another power snafu like the 99 cobra.

Yeah people that over pay to get the first of something suck.
They will sell like crack on Nebraska Ave..
When I got my Mustang new in 1990 which was not as big as a redesign as the new 2005 the dealers would sell out the day the turck hit the lot. I was on a waiting list at two different dealers. Finally got mine in August of 1990.

I'm interested in getting one. I'm just going to wait a year before I step up to the plate and buy one. I figure that will give me enough time to get the best deal and see what problems it might have.

Look at Ford's last 2 new platform launches, the Expedition and F150. Those and when the new Explore came out they did so much testing to make sure their were no issues all three models were pushed back for further inspections. They will get it right and it's as for selling........ what does it have to compete with now adays? Firebird, Camero, T/A?
