Im a 16 year about to get my lisence monday..i have about 5500 to spend on a car. The best looking and performance car i can get is a fox mustang. i went on autotrader and looked at a few heres what i found..88 gt with 72k 5spd manual stock..the paint looks so so and shitty rims//tires, its 88 miles from where i live... hes asking 3250 for it. Another was about 200 miles away. its a 90 gt black on black(beautiful) 5 spd with 87k. It just got a new coat of paint and new tires//rims..its looks damn good. i called the mini mustang dealership and hes askin 5400 for it. I dont know weather i should get the cheaper one and fix it up..im 16 with some decent knowlodge about cars...or get the ncie lookin one in the color i want and empty my bank account. im not sure what to do.. any suppusting? thanks

a friend of mine is selling an 88 or 89 gt for about 3k if you want me to hook you up with him let me know

let me tell you from experience, you want to keep at least 1000 bucks in the bank if you want to have a 12-14 year old car

though for me, you'd have to change it to 10 inches, and you'd have to change inches to millimeters, and you'd have to change 10 to 5 and you'd have to change dick to poor excuse for one.

Where do you live at? There are some around Tampa, just gotta find em.. but you did come to the right spot. There's always SOMEONE in here that knows about a fox for sale for a decent price. Good Luck and I'll keep an eye out for one for ya!

Also - bear in mind - look over the car THOUROUGLY!!! You dont' want someone elses problem... TAKE SOMEONE WITH YOU WHO KNOWS THESE CARS to look for problems and can run interference if someone starts feeding a 16 year old a load of crap about the problems.

Even the cleanest car can have problems. Mine had quite a few "little" things that added up to a lot of issues.....

Very true! My old fox also had a few problems that I didnt see when I first bought it. Luckily, it didnt cost me very much, but again, its always good to bring someone very knowledgable about fox's when you go looking.

At your age, I would suggest looking for a 4-cylinder fox. Insurance will be dirt cheap, plus it makes for a nice platform for future fun. You can find pristine, low mileage 4-bangers for around $2k. Use the leftover money to build a nice carburated V8 and source a used 8.8 rear. Or you could always do a turbo 2.3l.

Very good advice from everyone, unfortunately most of it comes from previous experience. Have someone with you who knows there stuff, don't let the seller give you a load of BS about this or that, be very skeptical. Also, when things seem too good to be true, such as the price is way too low for what the car has in it or how "low" the miles are, odds are something is wrong. Be very very skeptical, and when you do get one don't go to BLUE OVAL!

shit, you can pick up 94-95 5.0 verts fully loaded for like 4k if you look around and wait for the right one........

thats what i'd do, but it really depends on what you like, if you like sn95's or foxes or whatever........

but like rubberneck said, i'd try to stuff a lil bit of cash in the bank , unless you have disposable cash coming in from a job........
