it very easy to tell the differance between the 5.0 and 4.6
a 5.0 says "5.0" right on top the upper intake manifold, and a 4.6 had a running pony emblem on the upper plentum. 94-95 were stock with 5.0 then 96 they started putting 4.6

another way to tell without popping the hood is the tail lights. Of course those can be swapped but so could the engine. The 94-95 cars came STOCK with tail lights that have horizontal lenses (ie the opening stretches from left to right). The 96-98 tail lights are vertical - with the 3 openings going up and down. If I confused you - this is what I mean.
