10w40 in the Cobra?
You can use 10-40 it is a little cold for that though, i use 10- 30 it takes 6 quarts, i think ford recomends 5-30 for that car

as bitemark stated you do not want to use a heavy weight oil due to the fact that newer engines have much tighter tolerances then your older engines do

Use 10w30. Ford changed to 5w30 becuase it helps with cold emmisions (it's just to thin in my opinion). Just like they changed the rears from 75w90 to 75w140. All the same parts for both but it last longer since people are bad about maintance. Go figure. Although the heavier gear oil has more drag.
