Default An unpleasant surprise in a Cobra

I was helping on a 1995 Cobra 5.0 and we were trying to figure out the gas smell that was INSIDE the car. I looked at the vacuum lines etc. because you can only smell it when you turn the HVAC on. Well someone pulled out the purge canister to check that out and it was full of gas . Any ideas where that could have come from? It's a friend of mines' mom's car.

Time for a fuel filter, PVC valve and a general once over. If need be, you can bypass the charcoal canister and run a line directly back to the tank. My 96 (w/94 5.0L) had this issue and it was easily resolved with what I just typed. Good luck on ever getting that thing to run right, 94-95 Cobras were plagued with shitty ECU's and whatnot. The only way I "fixed" mine was to put a MSD 6AL on it, eliminate the charcoal canister and get a A9L processor from a Fox. On a Cobra, this would mean replacing the MAF as well. The SN95 Cobra ECU's are crap anyway, they retard timing anywhere past 93 mph (if memory serves) and 91 mph or so. Additionally, their MAF's were specific to the ECU and were useless with any mods. Hopefully this gives you a background for why the car runs like it does.
