Need Auto body info............
OK, here we go, I've got the engine bay about 80% ready to start painting it black, but I really wanted to remove the fenders to make it cleaner....
wellll.... with the GT ground effects on it I can't take the fenders off without removing a couple pieces of the ground effects, and it looks like the car was painted with them on there last time so it will crack the paint if I pull them off...
The car has a few other paint issues... The drivers fender needs to be wetsanded, and the passenger side trim is peeling a bit (red underneath ) , also there is a recent scratch on the passenger fender - OOPS! All in all there are a LOT of "little" things I would like to address...
The hood and the top of the car also need to be wetsanded, since there are a couple runs and sand specs in the paint... (I would like to replace the hood anyway)
NOW... I am thinking of having the car repainted... I can take it in sans all moulding / windows / trim, etc....as a roller with the shortblock in it and that's it...
What do you guys think it would cost to repaint it? I haven't done a lot of body work before, how hard will it be to sand down to the original greay so I don't have 3 coats on there?
Not sure I want to do this, but it's an idea, since I doubt I'll get rid of this car any time soon with the investment I have in it..

I've help take a few cars down to bare metal before and primed them. It's not the most fun thing in the world but it's not that difficult as long as you take your time. Not sure how long it would take since it's been a while and we were mainly working on an open-ended schedule and doing the work on weekends.
If you could do that much yourself and just take it to get sprayed that would probably save you a good bit I imagine. Not sure though.

That's what I was thinking....
Might get a chance to call around this afternoon to get a few ideas... any shope you guys would reccomend except setzers?

Call Dave at auto salon (old streetheat paint and body)
Does good work, and tell em Donnie sent ya.
I think this is the number 727 210 0380
He does all the Nigs in St pete and Tampas "candy paint" work and hes got a couple of them sittin outside the shop if you want an example of his work.
