Thumbs up Spec Stage III

Tonight Steve (Dragin) installed the Spec Stage III and a Spec Aluminum flywheel in the Cobra. All I have to say is WOW.

I was kind of concerned at first, since all the guys on the SVTPerformance forums were saying that this clutch is too agressive. While it is rather agressive, it is VERY streetable. You can create some clutch shudder, but only if you try. If you quickly engage the clutch, it drives like normal.

My throw out bearing being shot was the main reason why I upgraded.. It made tons of rattling and various racket that you could hear for blocks away. As well my stock cluch could bearly chirp 2nd gear. On the way home (against Steve's wishes I am sure), I got on it for a couple of gears. 2nd gear wasnt a chirp, it was the world comming to an end, and 3rd gear left a very long patch of rubber.

I love it!

I was about to buy a stageIII, but I decided to wait until I was at least making decent hp. Or until my stock clutch needs to be replaced.

Your stock clutch may last forever, but your throw out bearing will last a very short period of time. Thats the main reason why I got the state III.

It's very agressive, slips just enough so you dont light up the tires when you leave at an intersection. But the clutch is a lot lighter then the stock one.. My left leg is already starting to lose muscle mass.. LMAO

did your TOB damage anything? Because some people report that after putting in a brand new clutch/TOB it still squeels. But if you change the clutch before the TOB damages anything than you are ok.

Maybe I should go ahead and get the stageIII. Did you get a lightwieght flywheel also?

TOB didnt damage anything, since it hadent started squealing yet. It was just making a ticking noise.

I had to get the Spec lightweight flywheel becuase apparently the stock one isnt resurfacable. The Spec lightweight aluminum flywheel is resurfacable though.
