Default quick question

What is the biggest size tire I can put on the rear of my car? Right now I have 245/45/17's. Thanks.

Depends on the width of your wheels. The stock 17's are 8 or 8.5 inches wide. The widest profile tire you can really fit on there is a 285.

If you go up to a 17x9 (like the Cobra R), you can fit up to a 315 on the rear without rubbing anything.

Thanks! I was thinking of 275/40's on the rear and leaving the fronts the same way they already are. By the way, I see your car sometimes on my way to and from work. At least I think it's your car I see. Thanks again.

I have seen a 315 on stock Cobra rim(doesnt look right). I have 31535r17 on mine I rarely ever rub and I am lowered 1.5in. could probally go wider if I took out the quads and tail pipes. 275/40's will fit with no problem.

I think the size vs. rubbing issue has been addressed, sooo....

If you know the width of your tire, most tire manufactures will give a range of rim widths that their particular size of tire will fit (in other words, a Bridgestone 275W tire might fit an 8" rim, but a Nitto 275W might not). They also give a recommended rim width somewhere within that range that would best fit the tire.

Check with the manufacturers before you buy, most of them will list it on their sites, or tirerack.com usually has that info listed as well.
