Anyone get Directv RECENTLY?
The DTV sales goons at BB tell me that they have new satellites and that any NEWish installs are even better than old installs....
Anyone have DTV - any opinions?

I got it about a year ago and it's ok. Loose reception in heavy rain but overall good picture and if you get the wifi deal you can use the data base to watch shows. I need a wifi hd dvr but haven't bothered yet.
Working at best buy and being able to get the service for $10 a month was still not enough of a sales pitch for me to get it. Go to Best Buy when it's raining and see how good the signal is. They run satellite in the Magnolia room. If all the TV's are on Blu-Ray or the Best Buy internal cable feed then it's likely the signal is out
.
As much rain as we get in FL satellite is crap.
Take for instance today, here in pinellas right now at 9am there's a nasty storm outside nothing unusual for the season. I'm on the internet and fiance' is watching her morning shows. If I had satellite, she'd be resorting to watching Netflix through the blu-ray or sitting on the computer too because I know damn well the directv would be out.
The new dish they are talking about is to receive 3d signals and has a higher data bandwidth, it has nothing to do with an attempt to enhance the quality of service, they can't fix cloud cover and electrical storms with a better dish. The tech will try and sell you wax for your dish to keep the rain off, it helps, but you can just use car wax to get the same results.
