Default Gun guys, especially Glock owners, get in here!

Hey all, just had a couple questions. I love my Ruger to death, but I'm looking to get into the pistol world. My budget isn't exactly high for this, as my Ruger is nothing but reliable, and packs a whallop, so I'm set with it, but I want a Glock. I went and checked out a few at Kastle Keep, and did some research and settled on a G32, they shoot the .357 SIG round. I'm wondering if anyone has owned this gun in particular, or has an idea of how much I'd be looking to spend - so far I've seen prices from $450-$550. The gun will be purchased new. Also, anyone have any good hookups on ammo, price/quality wise?

For the price why not go to the .40? Ammo is cheaper

I'm a big .357 fan. My Ruger is a .357 S&W, and I've been shooting that since I was 12. I love the volume of the shots, the recoil, the muzzle flash, everything about that round. The .357 SIG is a sibling round to the .40, and with a Glock firing the .40 is as easy as throwing a new barrel in there.

The 357sig round is not a common round. Ammo will be more expensive and harder to find for it. Other than that, theres no difference between that and the quality of every other Glock out there.

What is going to be this pistol's primary purpose? Home Defense? Concealed carry? Range gun? Hunting gun?

BAMF, at 19 concealed carry isn't an option, so this gun will mostly be used as a home defense gun and range gun (I think the girlfriend will enjoy the kick from a .357 ). I know the round isn't the most common, which is something I've considered. Glock's interchangeable barrels.. Does anyone know what the 9mm model can double as? Is it a .45??

The 9mm G17 doesnt doulbe as anything...nor does the .45 (G22 i think)

THe only reson why the .357 doubles as a 40 is due to the ammo itself. The 357 sig round is the same diameter as a .40 cal for half the casing. THe only difference is the 357 sig round tapers to a point starting at about half up the casing. The tapering stops and the projectile is .357 of an inch. THe 40 cal stays the same diameter all the way to the projectile.

Hope that made sense and answered your questions.

ps. if it is a home defense piece I would stay with the 40. Not cause its cheaper but the safety. A 357 sig is really hot and can easily travel through interior walls of homes (even with hollow points). NOt really what you want when other people you care about are sleeping in other rooms. THe 40 is slower/heavier and tends to stop when hitting a 2x4 or something.

Diamonddog, great reply man! Thanks a lot. Comparison between the .357 and the .40... how is a .40 to shoot? Is it comparable to the .357 S&W and/or SIG round?

I have some .357 sig that will never get used. PM me if you get something that takes a sig round.

Can never hit the range enough...that much is true

Not much difference shooting a 40 and 357 sig. the sig usually has a little more recoil if shot from the same gun.

Comparing them to a 357 S&W to 357 sig is tough. The 357 S&W (I assume you mean magnum) is a ling bullet with a lot of powder. But its still a slow round. Typically a 357 S&W is in a revolver so the recoil is much greater. Heres a few pics to help explain what I've been saying

the .327 sig in the photo is a misprint it is supposed to say 357sig
