Default Draglites or cobra r's for a white coupe

Most have seen my build and I currently have draglites (in great condition) on my car. I will be running 275/60 in the rear and my car will sit pretty low as I want the wheels tucked under the fenders. I have a guy who wants to trade me a like new set of cobra r's for my draglites. The car will sit real low with either rim, so with that in mind what are some opinions on the welds vs the cobra r's?

Not sure how low you will get it downwith 275/60's without interfence. They have a lot of sidewall and personally, think if its going to sit lower, sit it on the Cobra R's

Or look into the 275/50's

Depending on the condition,.. the Draglites are worth a little more than the Cobra-R's. There are so many different Cobra-R wheels out there you need to be careful which ones you get. Some wont accept the standard lugnut either,.. they need a smaller (Outer circumference) nut in order to fit a lug wrench or socket around them inside the wheel. The one's I have are like that and will not work with 'regular' capped lug nuts.

Your car will sit lower more comfortably (with out tire rubbing) on Cobra-R wheels in the back than with 275/60 tires. 275/60 is a pretty tall tire with a lot of sidewall like Tommy said.

The one issue you may be concerned about with Cobra-R wheels is if they are 17x9 wheels. They may rub up front,.. and if you run coil overs up front you will more than likely need to run a 1/2 inch wheel spacer to keep the rim/tire from rubbing on the coil overs up front.

These are 17x9 rims with 245/45 tires up front instead of the normal 275/40. Even with the narrower tire they rubbed and needed a 1/2 inch spacer. You may try a 17x8 wheel up front with a 235 tire instead if you have coil overs.

in my opinion since i do have a white coupe you should stick with the DRAGLITES every foxbody has cobra r's and the skinny/ fatty setup just looks mean and right on the coupes.

Here is a pic of the wheels in question, not sure if they are knock offs or what, but look a little different than yours Jim. I dont know a whole lot about the cobras. I have fit the 275/60 under my other coupe with heavily rolled lips (like this one) and it only rubbed on pretty hard bumps.

Those are 4 lug OE wheels Cobra-R knock offs. I just bought the same wheels for my son's car. $349 brand new for all 4. Funny thing is he has the same cheap Nexxan tires I have on the chrome ones,.. $83.99 each through tiresdirect.com. Not a bad tire.. but you get what you pay for with them.

Just a word of caution though.

They are NOT,.. 17x10.5 in the rear. OE wheels doesnt make or sell a 4 lug 17x10.5 wheel. They do a 17x8 and 17x9 staggard set which is what I bought for my son's car.

FRONT 17x8

.

REAR 17x9

Came out to $394.77 for all 4 plus lug nuts, chrome valve stems and tax.
I have them still in the boxes in the laundry room right now.

Edit: BRB,.. I'll take some pics and show you what we got real quick so you know I'm not BS'ing you.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I am kinda leaning towards keeping the draglites now. My wife said she likes both but favors the draglites (so does the other half). She also said back in the day you saw draglites on every mustang but now you don't see them any where near as often. Jim, you going to winghouse tomorrow? I will be there for as long as I can handle it.

.

FRONT wheels - 17x8

.

REAR WHEELS - 17x9

.

Same center caps, plus I ordered the valve stems and lug nuts for an additional $25.

Plus these guys are not that far to drive and pic up. They only charge $89 to ship anywhere in the 48 states. But you can save that and pic them up yourself.

They do sell Saleen and other OEM wheel replica's,.. 5 lug plus truck wheels, They do Dodge and Chevy OEM knocks offs as well. I've bought tons of wheels through these guys over the years. Someone had told me they moved to NC. I had an old business card,.. gave them a call. Sure enough,.. they were still in Fla. When I sold the Centerlines,.. I bought these.

Personally I would keep your Draglites. They are worth more plus have that old school KooL factor. My son would have loved to have had your wheels. He didnt want these at all. But you dont argue with momma.

Cant make the Winghouse.
I picked up some side work putting in a Septic tank and system for a friend of my father inlaw. Its good money and I cant afford to pass it up right now. I will try to make one of them eventually.
