this isnt nothing new. They cant just read your cars info at will or while you are driving , but all cars since 2005 have little black boxes that tell everything. They tell how fast you drive , how soon before you hit the brakes the turn signal is activated. They even tell if you were using your brakes and how hard you were using them. Isuzu's are the only vehicles that this info can be accessed by the tech at the dealer. All other makes have to be read by the manufacture. Big trucks have had this technolgy for 20 years

True, not new that they record many values. Its when your car has the ability to transmit this data to a roadside box that I have to disagree with it. I'm fine with having data recording for accident investigation but live monitoring is a whole other issue. Privacy is going away little by little day by day....

Who says that it doesnt already transmit ? What if it doesnt need to transmit , but something else can pick it up anyway? Im only joking , a little bit . you never know what big brother is capable of unless he tells you

Here's another idea....

you don't need a special manufacturer tool to read TPMS signals. They are done with Radio Frequencies. All "they" would have to do is put TPMS readers at certain check points to collect the speed of YOUR car. The TPMS sensors have their own unique ID which is DOT mandated already, and is tied to YOUR VIN .

"They" could easily implement this system and collect tickets. 2007 up cars all have TPMS sensors in them, which is also goverment regulated
