Default Found something odd inside my engine yesterday...

Truck starting running like shit Saturday. Almost like it wanted to flood its self out but was running on one cylinder. I spent 4 hours diagnosing threw the harness, wiring looks perfect... Shocking myself check the distributor and wires and such... No go.

Well I also noticed a knock sound, it wasnt consistent so I ruled out a rod... As a last resort I pulled the valve cover and found a slightly bent pushrod. Thinking I found the problem, slapped another one in and started it. Sounds better but the sound is still there and scaring the shit outta me at this point. The HiPo slant six's are hard to come by and I really dont wanna replace it. So at this point I said fuck it and pulled the head, and found this in #6 cylinder.

Its what used to be a nut of some sort. Looks like a ball bearing now. The piston has small dimples in it from the sharp edges but nothing is major and im happy for that.

Pic's... This is #6 spark plug.

lost the nut to your air cleaner lately? What does the head look like? It did all that damage, and only hit the plug? You should probably go buy some loto tickets!

It actually was the bottom nut on the air cleaner. A $20 part caused me alot of headache. The valves look perfect! Like nothing fucking touched em!

I'll post a couple pics of the valves over #6 cylinder. I bought 6 of them bitches today actually. 6 lotto tickets for #6 cylinder

I had the whole stud/nut on my air cleaner come loose and go down the drain during a race once. I had about 4 laps to go, running 3rd. And lost a cylinder. When we took it appart, you could see the imprint of the threads on the piston and valves, It ate the head up and killed the valve seats.... you got damn lucky! it was a 4$ part. Ended up costing probably 12-1500$ plus what $ i could have got for a top 3 finish!

What doe the tops of the other 5 pistons look like? I have never seen a piston top with that surface finish. It might be good for the fuel mixture

Flat and normal, like a nut wasnt beating the sharp edges off inside the cylinders. Lol
