What do you do for fun?
Hurst, I used to be reallll big into computers. I was fairly fluent in C, Perl, and a few other basic languages by the time I hit 7th grade. I constantly had ongoing 'wars' with another friend of mine.
Jchauncy, yeah I actually have the ticket stub right infront of me in my room with all the rest of mine. Show was only 2 years ago. Feb 23rd, 2007. It was with Slayer and I think one other band was supposed to show up, but ended up not. So it was just Unearth and Slayer.

I never would have figured you for a computer geek.
On another note, the whole computer shutting down adn rebooting thing....That happens to my work computer ALL the time. Fortunatly, it has nothing important on it. LOL Never happened at home, but still....Thats weird. Good thing I don't do online banking.
You now officially "scare" me.

Most that I know couldnt care less about your banking information on your computer. They are not out to steal from you. Once I have gained administrative access to a computer I can pull its history, every single pwd its ever stored, and download a screen shot in less then 20 seconds of gaining access. The rest is just snooping around more out of curiosity then anything else. Its like being able to walk around in someone's home with them there only they can not see you. The average home computer is pretty boring and most are an un-organized frustrating mess to explore.
The ones I would fuck with would be a computer where I find kiddie porn or other dumb shit on. The others I leave alone,.. I patch it when I am done so not even I have access. At least not the same method I originally used.

I hear you,..
dial up days were fun. A simple 'atho' in a ping command would hang up most modems. Even after they patched against it,.. all you had to do was repeat the command in multiple requests to get the same effect. And if that didnt work,.. you just broke out your unix bot in what else,.. a C shell and let it do the work for you with much more bandwidth. IRC wars were great. A sysop would piss me off and I would take over the whole server owning every channel. He would ban my subnet and I'd bounce back in through another shell on a different class c and own it all over again. I had scripts for everything. When the port 139 OOB bug was first discovered was good times too. Used to be able to gain root to a shell by telneting in with any login over 256 chars,.. that would initiate the overflow stack,.. then you added a small bit of code with your desired login and pwd to the end of it,.. and by the time the server rebooted you had a nice unix shell with root access that you could telnet into and create as much havoc as you wanted all the while with complete anonymity because your IP reported you as being in Bangladesh somewhere.

I miss the days when I messed with computers. After getting into the band routine, learning how to run Pro Tools software proved to be much harder than learning the basics of coding.
When I was 12, I made a text-based RPG out of BASIC for a school project which seemed to blow everyone away until they realized just how easy it really was.
Hurst, one of these days I wouldn't mind getting together with you and sharing some stories, as I'm sure I could learn a lot from you. I remember back in middle school, a friend and I discovered a site called Hack This Site!. Not sure if it's still around, but it hasn't been the same for years. My friend and I used to be on IRC, and HTS until sunrise every single night. It was an awesome game! Then, we found another called RootThisBox which, in essence, was a capture the flag for hackers. It was an absolute blast doing those things and being under 15.
