I have 93 5.0 and started driving it with no hood on and noticed smoke coming from coil then it died..I replaced the coil and noticed a wire that looked burnt were the tach connects to it.. replaced wire their also any ideas is there any fuses or anything that could of went? or can you check voltage at the coil?

 

Sounds like it might be the infamous TFI module.

 

Yeah i replaced it also and still nothing i even put a voltage tester on the two wires coming off the coil and followed them and still nothing maybe theres a fusible link or something in there that blew
