I had thought about that too. They have a lot of neat parts to make a carb'd LS1 an easy swap. Even the ignition setup isnt that expensive and seems really easy to configure,.. pretty much plug n play.

Tons of cheap T56 trannys for LS1's out there too. I've found a bunch while searching for a Cobra spec T56. Not too crazy about the hydraulic clutch setup. But a TH350/400 works,.. or even a 700R is an option. They also have stroker kits for the LS1 and a lot of good aftermarket heads. Hell even the different LSx based heads flow pretty damn good.

Finding a good long block or short block doesnt seem too difficult either. They are a little pricey compared to doing a 351. Thats why I decided to stay with a 351 block,. that and I already had some decent heads.

Im looking into doing the iron block lq4 or lq9 complete low mile long block, they can be had for 1000 or less and with a 400 and a t-76 blow thru set up.
