therangerstation.com forced to pay fine and change name????
Kocky is still in business, and they still sell the same Ford Shirts. Thats who I bought a few of my ford shirts from. Great products.

It looks like the actual ford logo is not on any of those shirts though, I do see the cobra and mustang emblems still.
kocky isn't gone yet, but will be by the end of january because they can't afford to fight the attorneys that are picking this battle with them.

i'll take those badges off in a heartbeat. i may do it anyway. then i'll have a generic vehicle that resembles some other car. LOL the only thing left on my car that was made by ford is the body. lol everything else has been replaced.

That's what happened with VW. Obviously there are TONS of businesses with VW, Bug, Beetle etc in their names. VW found a law firm and told them they can keep a percentage of whatever money they bring in for copywright infringement. So now VW is actually a huge dirty word in the air-cooled VW world. They are really pissed that VW's new marketing campaign features a 64 beetle because VW shits on air-cooled owners and doesn't acknowledge their existence unless it benefits them.
New email.
As requested by many members, I am sending a new email out about the current issue with Ford.
Again I applogize for this unsolicited email.
Initially, a law firm representing Ford had contacted me wanting me to surrender the domain to TRS and send them a check for $5,000 for damages.
The firm cited our sales of decals that used used the Ford logo or trademark names, our use of ford photos that infringed on Fords trade dress rights, and for the use of the word 'Ranger' which was a trade name of Ford.
As far as the photos, I had obtained them from the Ford media site through our TRS media account, so we had a right to use them.
Thanks to the support of our members (and your messages to Ford) I had been contacted by Scott Monty who is head of social media at Ford.
Essentially, it came down to TRS selling decals with Fords tradenames to cover site expenses without a license and Fords responsibility to protect those licenses.
There wasn't any negotiations required, Scott Monty stated that they did not want us to lose the TRS name and asked that TRS stop selling the unlicensed decals.
We are keeping our name and will not have to submit the $5,000 requested by the attorneys.

Thanks again for your support. I was told that we had a large showing of support from enthusiasts. I believe your response not only helped clear this up quickly but will actually strengthen The Ranger Station's relationship with Ford in the future.
I would ask that if you posted this information anywhere on the internet that you direct the discussion to the link I posted above.
Thanks,
Jim Oaks

1) Stop selling the decals since I do not have a trademark license to sell
2) Agree that the 'Ranger' is a product of Ford.
5) Not turn The Ranger Station name over to anyone else.
I believe that's about it.

Site owner will be admitting he was using Ford trademark, admitting that "Ranger" they were using was Ford's product and dont turn the site over so they can sue the ones that currently have it.
If a frivalous attorney will take the case to make money, they will do what ever it takes to get paid, even if it means you got tricked by the wording
