Default Im Getting A New Stang

i have a friend who wants to trade me and the deal is going down sunday. im getting an 86 5.0 with a front conversion 5 speen. locking diff. dump's, and it has a few issue's here and there but maybe one of you can find it in your heart to help me get the thing tuned? the carb needs adjusting and i think thats about it.

i'll put the pics up sunday when i bring the car home. i want to do it now but wont have the money till friday to do the title transfer and all and i still have to get to work this weekend. some thing's still need converting though. car was origanaly a 4 banger so the gages dont all work. it's carberated now though so it shouldnt be to hard to get it right, right? and the throtle responds is a little off. i know some friends that should be able to show me how to tune it but if not i'll be comeing to see one of you guy's.

Even if it was a 4 banger,.. the guages still work the same and should function the same provided they were wired up correctly. So if something isnt working correctly,.. its probably not wired up right. Most importantly I would make sure the temp guage works,.. and next important would be the gas guage. LoL


As for the carb not being very responsive,.. that could be several things. But to me if I had to guess,.. I'd say it needs a new carb. Could also be an ignition issue,.. depends how he wired that up also. Nothing that cant be fixed.

^ i dont know, im not even sure what year the motor is. i know the guy who did the swap so i'll be getting ahold of him friday. almost lokk like it came out of and explorer though or even a crown vic, the valve cover's look similure. i'm getting a new carb for it just not sure which one to get. either an ?edelbrock 600 4 barrel or a holley 650 with a vacume sec.

as for the wiring, im sure it need's to be re-done. i'll be getting individuel gages for it after a while but that will take a little time. ignition could be the reason, he did mention that he think's the timing may be off.

Get the Holley 650 vac secondary. Decent carb there. If you want to drive over here to Hillsborough ave, I'll work with you to get it going decently.

so on a 2nd note, is there any work i can do for someone local in exchange of you giving the new stang a run down, telling me what it need's and showing me how to adjust what would need adjusting? im pretty good with runing wires and wrenching.

is the 600 and 650 a big jump in gas difference?

plus i will need some different valve cover i think. the stock one's on it now has an open port coming off of the oil input neck.
and i was told by a friend who works at the advance auto parts by me that there might be something up with the breaks lossing presure. one good thing about having friends in parts stores who deal with everyone in the area. they know whats up with all the cars in the area, lol.

it's already starting to sound like the car is to much for whats it's worth but i cant pass up an even trade for it. mine's only a 4 banger, a clean and well tuned 4 banger but im sure you know what i mean.
