Default "The Amazing" Rays

All my Yankees heritage in my blood I must hand it to the Rays for a fine season. Is this a one hit wonder season?? or like the 69 Mets??

10 years of first round draft picks finally pay off..

I must also add that The Rays are owned by three New York Jewish Guys.

Hats off to the Rays!!

But they are not the new beasts from the east.

Thoughts?

I have always been a rays fan....but have gone through some long tough years not wanting to show it lol. I remember going to the games years ago just hoping that they would keep the game close so we wouldnt be totally embarrased.

I am happy to see them come all this way.

Just got back from game 1 and man was that fun. Lookin forward to game 2 tomorrow. Hopefully I am lucky enough to get tickets to the next series if we make it that far!

I've been to enough games when the (devil) Ray's lost to last a life time. It's great to seem them do well.

As far as a one hit wonder, it's hard to tell. The have tons of young talent but play in the toughest division in baseball. The Yankees, Sox, and next year Jays will all be very good.
Hell, the Jays finished next to last in the A.L. East ans still had a better record than the Dodgers who are doing well in the playoffs.

Evan Longoria = Rookie of the Year.
Joe Maddon = Manager of the Year.

I've watched the D-Rays, and ensuing "Rays" since they began playing here in town. Always been a fan of home-town sports teams, regardless of their performances. But damn, I was tired of seeing them lose!

Glad to see the way Maddon has taken lead of the clubhouse and its players. Glad to see the team doing well. Glad to call them our HOME TEAM!!!!!

They'll be contenders for the next few years. It'll be difficult; the Yankees won't beat themselves again like they did this year, and as $hawn mentioned the Jays are going to be tough. The Bo-Sox are always a handful...

IMO, Rays will win 85+ again next year.

Funny how winning changes things...Last year Maddon sucked and everyone wanted him gone. this year he's manager of the year

I might be more of a Rays fan if 70% of their fans weren't of the bandwagon, all of a sudden sh#t talking, don't really know anything about baseball variety. I realize I talk a fair amount of it when my Sox play and recieve a good amount of it from Yankees fans but 9 times out of 10 they know the game and both clubs have the history and culture to back it up. The Rays definitely have some talent and while the new owners are of the Wall Street variety they know how to run a business.

Still, I watched everyone become a huge Bucs fan around the Super Bowl XXXVII win and everyone become an "always been there" Lightning fan around the '03/04 Cup only to buy decent ticket a few years later with spare cash in my wallet. Now the Bulls and the Rays...I just get the sense I'll be buying a lower level Rays ticket for $10 again in a year or two. I hope I'm wrong, I hope some kind of sports culture develops down here but I don't see it happening any time soon...

Plain and simple - you're not going to spend your hard earned money to go and watch your team lose. Period.

I don't give a fuck if you're a Yankees fan, BoSox fan, or a dick-suck fan. You aren't going to pay admission to be disappointed.

So yes, ticket sales go up, fans come out of the wood works, and people start showing their pride finally. That's the natural course of events.

How much of "proud" a fan would you be in the Sox if they were 96 losses next year? Not much.
