Default Carnage fom the track last night 10/01/08.....

Got the car going again last Sunday, took it to the track last night and BOOM..... Now it doesn't run..... It was fine the first pass, but when I shifted into 2nd it made some really bad noises and tried to shake me out of the car.....

We found this piece of timing cover laying on the track.....

and here's some pic's of the visible damage.....

I am going to pull it in the morning and see how bad it is..... I will update when I find out more.....

broke the timing chain, then the chain doubled up and broke the cover

I say broken crank. Crank pulley doesn't look perpendicular to the water pump drive, and a timing chain breakage wouldn't shake him out of the car.

Not spraying, there isn't even any on the car.....

The crank is definately broken..... I thought initally last night it just broke the snout off in front of the main journal, but after looking at it today it's broke behind the front main somewhere..... Might have broke at the first rod journal, at any rate we will see in the morning.....

Good luck with it.

No blower, No Turbo and No nitros..... It's just a n/a flat top 302 with some early 351w heads that I ported, and I only turn it 6500rpm.....
