I'm almost 41 years old,.. we used to use that term for a cam that had a rumpity rump idle. But now days you dont see that anymore,.. and usually a clue that means the person really doesnt know WTF he has. LoL

I can still remember when you could buy a 1970 455 Ram Air GTO for under $2500 and bitch about paying that much. I had one,.. I traded a 1969 SS396 Chevelle for it that I paid $700 for. Guy wanted $1100 for it and I coughed about $1100. The car had almost 80k miles on it. I said that was a lot of mileage for that much money. How times have changed.

I'm gonna hold out for one with a full race cam, rolled and pleated interior and some baby moons...and maybe an 8 track. Ooooooo yeah! Cherry!

Ditto on the 3/4 race cam. I asked a guy who told me he had one once. He said it was basicly a race cam, but was toned back a little to remain "streetable" so the car didn't try to break the tires loose while it was idleing.

#/4 race cam = Old fart who is living dreams of the past.

It's from back in the day when it was all, as Smokey used to say, "monkey see, monkey do." If you wanted a fast car, you called the speed shop and got a 3/4 or full race cam. A full race cam was what the NASCAR boys would run and the cam specs varied wildly from cam to cam. It was whatever the manufacturer thought was good for max power. 3/4 was just a little milder and so on down the line. To use terms like that when every cam comes with a card that lists the specs is just telling every one, "I have no idea what is in this engine."
