well I owned a 2000 GT for 2 years and I loved it. but I wouldnt go with a car someone beat the shit out of with NOS and then buy it for 12k. I bought my GT for 10k 4 years ago with less miles and now that gas is so high you should definetly be able to get a GT for a lower price. not to mention I dont think the kelly blue book on an automatic GT is even 12k just my opinion .

thanks for the info, I'm kinda curious if the former owner is on this site, trade in value is only aroun 7k so they would have to go down...im also looking at a 05 Gt for 17k with 31k miles on it.

yea they would have to go way down in price and if you get a 5 speed you'll be alot happier with the performance .

priced way high. but if you're getting it from a car lot they should have a bit of markup in it.

Stay away from that one. The owner had no taste when they put those stripes on it,.. not only that,.. its an auto with nitrous,.. so I assume they couldnt drive a stick either. Oh,.. and did I mention its priced about $4000 - $5000 too much?

If looking at an 05 or newer then go with one of those. You will be happier. 99 - 04 GT with a 5 spd were a low 14 second car with good driver. A few mods and they can go mid to high 13's. 05+ GT is already a 13 second car,.. they run on par with Mach1's. The value of 96 - 04 2v GT's are dropping faster then the Florida real estate market. If you want to find a good deal,.. then try a 99 - 04 GT. 03/04's will be at most in the $12k range. 99 - 02 $6500 - $11k range. (mileage, condition, mods etc). The real jewels are 96 - 98 cars that have had the PI swap done. Can usually find them from $4500 - $7000 tops.

Great cars. 8.8 considerably stronger then Fbody 10 bolt. More gear choices and they make spools for 8.8 unlike 10 bolt. Handle good when lowered. Nice stereo's. Power windows dont go bad as often Fbodies. Respond well to bolt ons. Headers and gear really wake the cars up. But have to keep in mind,.. its only a 281ci motor. They dont make a lot of torque. Not like an LS1 or LT1. They dont really start making power until after 4500 rpm and 2v motors usually die off after 5800. 4v motors offer the most potential. And continue making power to 7000 rpm and beyond particularly the 96 - 98 Cobra's.

4.6 blocks Iron and aluminum will ALL hold together up to 1000hp. Stock cranks cast cranks are good for 600 - 700hp. Sadly though,.. the stock rods and pistons arent good for much more then 425hp. Anything over and your on borrowed time.

thanks for the info guys youve been a help, I ended up not buying it....When i got there the battery was dead(optima red top) the second time I go back there with family as an extra set of eyes and ears, once again it does not start. After I take it out for test drive i get back and look in the car for damage to the interior so I look in the back where the top folds down and there is a layer of water approx 2 inches deep maybe more anyways. I tell the salesman about this and all he says to me is we dont charge extra for that....stupidity and a great way not to get a sale. Meanwhile I was also looking at an 04 rx-8 while I was there, once again this car did not start and the motor was filthy, my 140k LS1 is cleaner. So I take the keys over to the salesman and tell him theres no way Im buying a car here. As I get into my car you would think he would pull the mustang to the back and have it cleaned....no no no lets close up the car and walk away from and let water damage increase and get a nice musty smell. Needless to say Register Chevy will never receive an ounce of my business, not even an apology for wastin my time, or and oh we will have that taken care of asap. All I can say is a pathetic waste of my time
