I'm so tired of all this ricer BS. I went shopping with my wife tonight and as usual I dumped her for the magazine rack. I was looking over the car mags and saw Tuner Rice or something, anyway, it had a Dodge Viper and one of the new ricethings (Evo?) on the cover. Well the mag goes on to tell how a "mildly" warmed over ricer beat this 90K Viper. I started reading between the lines and noticed several things. The ricer was more than "warmed over" it was tuned for handling with all sorts of mods, the other thing is that the test was done at Willow Springs, if you've ever run there you know that it is a very twisty track that is not kind to high horsepower cars. So basically all the cards were placed in the ricer's corner, and then they brag about how they could probably beat the Viper with the stock ricer. In the mean time all the idiot driver could complain about was how the Viper was too hard to drive. What a bunch of ricer propaganda! All I could think of was what an old friend of mine once said.
"Slow cars always handle".

+2 ... reminds me of when they put a Focus up against a C5 Z06. We all know the C5 couldn't handle for shit in the first place, not like it does now, but still ... kinda retarded.

 

Well, the ricer wasn't wrong when he said the Viper is hard to handle. Even the drivers of the damn things admit (and sometimes even brag) that they're very hard to handle around the turns.

When compared to, say, a Z06, which is in the same class but a breeze to swing around the twistys. They're not really the best for track times.

 

It's because you have to drive both ends, push in and loose out, it's like all these rice cars that I autocross with, it's easy when you have 150 horsepower and traction control, all you have to do is steer the freakin' thing.
While we're on this I think it was Motor Trand that had the headline USA vs the world, the C series Vette against the nissan 350r (or something) a Porsche 911 (something) and another car and of course the Vette finished last, all I could think of was since these other companys brought their heavy hitters why didn't you guys bring the Z06?
Because the vette would wipe them up, that's why.......
