My Turn!! Drove a Ford Flex today!!
My Turn!! Drove a Ford Flex today!!
I can't believe how much I liked this thing. Some notes:
They are long, and short (height), so they feel very stable. LOTS of room inside for bigger or taller people, but at the same time, it was very comfortable for someone my size.
Now, to compare/contrast to my Lincoln (basically, an F150):
The Flex is about 2' shorter front to back and at least 1' shorter in height.
In my truck, I cannot reach the radio and a/c controls without leaning into it. In the Flex, I can. You wouldn't notice that it's closer from looking at it, though..it's not like it sticks out from the dash.
In the newer style F150s, there is a lot of stuff blocking your view to the sides. In the Flex, there is a lot less in the way. The windows are longer. It's almost like one continuous piece of glass..not really, but it seems that way. There's not much blocking your view at all.
The Flex's hood is shorter front to back. The V6 engine is turned sideways. This along with the better design of the windshield and windows makes even better visibility.
I took video with my phone, but I can't get it to play on the computer. I parked the Flex next to my truck to compare size and stuff.
I'm totally getting one soon. I absolutely loved the thing.

What was sticker on the flex? What is it powered by? What are the EPA estimates? Sorry so many questions, I just haven't read much on these but they seem pretty cool looking.
The first one I looked at was the base model and was $29k. Then another came in on the truck (the one I drove), and that one was an SEL model and was $35k. The next step up is the Limited. Not sure how much those are.
It is a 265hp 3.5L, if I'm not mistaken.
EPA - 17 city and 24 hwy. I set the cruise at 55 and reset the mpg and it was getting 22. Once it got to 22, it never dropped below that, even sitting at a light on the way back.
They look cool because they are so short and sit low, compared to other SUVs. It's almost like a real long Scion, but way cooler. LOL

I don't understand why americans are so obsessed with SUVs and crossovers.
Why don't people here like wagons, or touring models? If you want cargo room and passenger space in something thats stable, why not have it in a car?

looks like a chopped and bagged Navigator

It's way more square than a Navigator. You have to see it in person to get an idea.
BTW, they don't all have the 2 tone roof. That's actually an "upgrade" but it looks much better with the color match, imo.
The one I drove was Redfire Clearcoat..yeah..same Redfire of the Mustangs..and the other one there was the vanilla color. They called it White Suede or something. Both of them had same color roof and looked way better than those pictures.
