America was founded on the principles that said/says there is a God... Just find it hard to comprehend that people would live in a place that was founded on something and turn around and not stand for the same thing.

My 2¢
I thought America was founded because England was founded on the principles said/says there is a god.

I'm probably more agnostic than I used to be, only because I don't think you can rule out a fully functioning universe created 10 minutes ago with everyone's memory pre-programmed, but no, I don't think any god exists.

Only one of those matters.

Agnostic here. I actually wrote a paper on this subject but my Christian professor didn't like it to much. It seems to me that religion was created to give people a hope that when they die, they will go to a better place. The second reason is if you look back in time, rulers and kings pressed religion on there people to make them fear going to hell or whatever and thus, they act like a good (enter religion) and you have less crime and a better society.

Edit: I believe there could be a higher power but would need some proof of existence.

LOL.. so your national anthem and your pledge of allegiance to your country does not matter? And I meant the Declaration of Independence.. But thanks for the great research skill display... What about your currency? Why do all of them have it on them? I am not saying that you have to believe in "GOD"... just saying that denying the presence of a higher power is kind of silly.... but you are entitled to your POV... and I appreciate the banter...

i guess i kinda feel like there are people who need religion and those who don't. the guiding principles are really nothing more than knowing right from wrong and having a good grasp of common courtesy and common sense.

whether you believe in God or not is something that is inside each person. to me, that seems to be the only thing that isn't right or wrong.
That was nicely said. I have never liked church. I don’t like the idea of a large group of people blindly following a select few their whole lives basically accomplishing nothing, just because its in a book. I’m really done trying not to offend people on the subject. To me religion is a poor mans disease or for those who are morally weak. Nothing Christianity preaches is anything more than common sense, and the way any decent human should act. To me religion is a nice way to feel good about yourself when you lay your head down at night.

Humanist/Agnostic here. I don't believe in there being a god. I believe everything that happens is because of a reason that can be proven and most of the bad things that happen are because people have something to do with it, not because god is mad or your being sucked in by satan. I have read the bible and multiple other religious readings just so I could understand how people are thinking better.
