Default e-85 post in general chat

https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/g...-stations.html

Some times people just don't get it. I know why I spend most of my time on this forum. (save for a few idiots we have ) Also what is up with the lack of helping other people in this country.

I wish we had e-85 here in clearwater as it would be what the turbo stang ran on full time. It is 2.82 a gallon today with 103 octane!

To be noted --- I could care less about people in other countries in comparision to ours. I would trade 1000 average irianians for 1 average american life. You could add some zeros and I don't think it would make alot of difference. Me for president bitches!

We actually talked about setting my car up to run that stuff...untill we did some research and the only local place that I found that claims to have some is Mac Dill Air Force Base. Which we all know wont sell to the public.

If they offered it alot of us would probably use it. I mean its actually an alcohol. And we all know what alchohol does as a race gas. Its perfect! Only down fall is you have to use almost twice as much fuel to make the same power as gas but in turn it works out. The other down fall is you have to have the correct lines, pumps, injectors (or carb's), etc. If not the alcohol will just eat all the shit up. But if you building a car and need a fuel system they are now making alot of dual purpose pumps that now work with either gas or e85. Just buy those and your good to go!

But just as anything else in the car business it has it's plus's and minus's. One major one is probably the lower fuel milage. But at 2.82 a gallon and race gas getting up into the 8 - 8.50 range a gallon I think it would still be cheaper in the long run (I havent worked out the math so maybe my guess is wrong)

Plus NMRA has recently changed the rules to allow the stuff in its class's.

alot of Fords built after about 1998 are E-85 compatible.

if it was available around here id convert my 85 to run on it. all i need are fuel lines and rebuild the carb to run it. then id add some more timing and lean out the nitrous system a little

+1 on what Steve said, and we don't have to design a brand new infrastructure to carry, store, sell the stuff like we would with hydrogen...

I just can't beleive how many people jump on an issue like this talking about how bad it is when they have no idea of what they are talking about.

Certainly don't think it is a 100% replacement for oil but would love to see it but a solid source of say 40% of our fuel here. If someone starts selling it locally for 3 dollars or so i'll upgrade my pumps and injectors and run the hell out of it.

Tony you might be rubbing off lol

IDK....If you get 1/2 the mileage because it isn't as "powerful" as gasoline, then we are all being fooled. If I can get gasoline for 3.50 a gallon and go 20 miles on that gallon, but I need to buy 2 gallons of e-85 to go the same distance at 2.82 a gallon....I would say the jokes on me. Now, make e-85 1/2 the price of gasoline, then it evens out....Make it even less, then it'll be a deal.

Now, I'll be the first to tell you that I don't know enough about e-85 yet to make an educated guess even. But when it becomes more accessable in my area, I'll look into using it and the ups and downs of using it. Besides, I ride my bike most of the time anyway.

FAIL LOL Iposted b4 reading the link....Anyway....I think there is even more to the story, but no time to research it right this moment.

They say it actually gets about 25% less. The offset is cost, where the money goes and octane.

Did you actually read the link?
