Florida Governor Charlie Crist today signed important National Rifle Association (NRA)–backed legislation into law that will protect the existing rights of law-abiding gun owners. House Bill 503 preserves the self-defense rights of law-abiding men and women as they travel in their cars to and from their daily activities.
“Customers and workers should not have to choose between protecting themselves or following the political policies of an anti-gun business,” said NRA Past President Marion P. Hammer. “The right to protect oneself must be maintained no matter where you park your car.”
This legislation protects the rights of gun owners to possess a firearm in any private motor vehicle in a parking lot, and prevents businesses from searching private vehicles of customers or employees.
“This is a great day for the people of the state of Florida,” concluded Hammer. “Their right to keep and bear arms for self-defense and other lawful purposes has been restored.”

Last I heard, it was CWP only. However, that may be wrong.
There are a few types of businesses which are exempt from this law. Check to make sure yours isn't one of them.
Also, when is the last time an employer searched an employee's car? People who want to carry guns are going to carry guns. As long as they keep their mouths shut about it, they won't be bothered. As for parking lots where you are the customer, I can't think of any instance where a business has ever hassled a customer over a gun in their car unless they did something stupid with it.
Also note the gun better not be readily accessable for immediate use in your car if you don't have a CWP. It needs to be in a closable container somehow. This could be a snap holster, your center console, a zippered or clasped case; just not available to be picked up and fired. And smack anyone who says something about a '3 step rule'. Then tell them that was from BAMF.

so even tho a cop will tell you there is a 3 step rule , it's not true? The cop who was putting on the cwp class told the class it was true , you just have to know what 3 steps are are actually 3 steps.
