Default LAST in line...

The last 2008 Roush P-51A Mustang in a limited production run of 151 will hit the auction block on March 29 at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in West Palm Beach, Florida. Proceeds from the auction will benefit a charity called the Salute to Education Scholarship, according to Roush.

"Number 151 is a pretty significant car for Roush, considering the total inventory of Roush P-51A Mustangs basically sold out within 24 hours when the dealer order banks were opened up," said Joe Thompson, Roush Performance general manager, in a statement.

Roush said the last P-51A Mustang is expected to go under the gavel live during the Speed Channel broadcast on March 29.

Roush describes the 510-horsepower P-51A Mustang as the highest-horsepower Mustang the company has ever built. The P-51A Mustang, inspired by World War II P-51 fighter planes, is a pet project for Jack Roush; he is a longtime aviation buff who owns personal P-51 fighters. Roush is expected to "personally oversee the bidding" on the P-51A Mustang, according to the company.

The Salute to Education Scholarship is given to high-school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to community service, academic achievement, leadership and strong educational and career goals.

What this means to you: It's your last chance to get your hands on a P-51A Mustang — and do some good at the same time. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
