Police: 8 dead in likely drag-race crash - Life - MSNBC.com

Looks like the cause was a mix between the people standing in a major road way with burnout smoke and a car driving without headlights

I was reading that story, and saw the pic of the crown vic, holy shit were they racing on that road? That bitch is about as straight as a figure eight. I see where the crown vis wasnt at fault...yet. But, damn, is all I have to say.

Well I would say the crown vic is just as much at fault for driving at 3am with no lights on.. And who would go flying thru a cloud of smoke not being able to see anything infront of them..?

The whole story is just sad and odd...sounds like the people were standing IN one of the lanes of a 4 lane highway watching the race? Not to be insensitive but that's just dumb...I mean stand on the side of the road or behind the guardrail or something. I guess I've done some blatantly stupid stuff in the past though...

I don't know how much headlights would have helped an 10 year old crown vic coming through smoke at highway speeds only to find a small crowd...hell even if he slowed down to 30 or 40. Just a sad story...

Expect another wave of "street racing is evil/takes lives" from the media...

I just think lights would have given some warning to the people in the street that a car was coming, as it would have lit up all the smoke.

And I am just waiting to hear what the media is going to come up with on this one and who they will be blaming. Wonder is MD will be getting a law like FL for street racing now

Good times!!! And to think how long that place went on with only entr/exit from either end . I used to run my 66 out at 84 Lumber, with hardly no shut down area, and 4 wheel drum brakes, DAYUM!! I've done some dumb shit
