Default Biggest Nuke Ever Exploded:

This is fucking awesome, in a scary kinda way

The Soviet "Tsar Bomba", detonated in 1961.

Trivia:

It released the same energy equivalent of 57 million tonnes of TNT.

The mushroom cloud was 60 km high.

The shock wave was measured on its third trip around the Earth.

It left a crater full of pulverised rock and ash, even though it was detonated 2 miles above the Earth's surface.

The destruction zone was 30 miles in diameter, and although detonated on the Northern Russian coast, it broke windows in Finland.

The glowing gas visible as the flash fades is made of plasma, the same sort of stuff we'd find in the sun itself.

Yep...scary shit alright. And to think, we are the only country in the history of the world to actually drop not one, but two of those bombs on real cities.

I know we did what we had to do, but I hope to God we never have to do it again. I also pray to God that we CAN do it if we NEED to in the future.

the tsar bomb was MUCH bigger than little boy and fat man combined

had we drop this on hiroshima it would be "lake hiroshima" today.

hiroshima's blast yield was 16 kilotons, nagasaki's was 21 kilotons...the tsar bomb...50 MEGATONS

There is some serious shit out there. Only thing that scares me, not that it exists doesn't.. is anyone with enough money "can" get this. All the black market dealings, all the decommissioned stuff out there. Really makes a person think what the would could be.

Yeah, if thats the bomb i'm thinking it is. It disrupted radio communications around the world for something like 45 mins. Also it was only detonated it half it's capcity.
