Wow, Good reading in chapter 2. That was a swift moving fire.

 

I have been listening to streaming audio from the local NBC news station.....My mom lives near Otay Lake, just outside Chula Vista in one of the canyons. Her fire is the Harris Fire. I have been constantly watching online beacause the media coverage is shitty. I was on call last week, and never heard a thing about it on the radio. She said today she went to the grocery store and the sheves were empty. It is definitely a mess over there.

Damn. Hope your mom is safe. It's crazy out there. Everyone evacuated to "safe" areas, and now the "safe" areas are being evacuated. Imagine losing your home, finally finding a hotel with a room, then you have to pack up and try to find another hotel with a room available all over again.

Check this out..there was someone on the dog board that is a long time lurker and saw what was going on and got Rhonda into a hotel, paid for, FOR A WEEK!! And it's near where her horses are. Sometimes, people rock.

 

Thanks guys...I just talked to her tonight, they were evacuated early this morning, but allowed back in at 3:30 PST. I am actually going out there for Thanksgiving, so I will get to see the damage 1st hand. She was very bummed, thinking my family and I would not get to go out there because they would not have a home. So far, she has been very, very, lucky. The fires are only 10% contained, so, they are all still in danger.

 

yea, I've got a friend who lives out there in Vista, said yesterday the fires were real close to them too....man, what a shitty situation.....hope everyone makes it through ok
