Im on GTE DSL and I can unhook my modem AND - my IP stays the same. I can use winipcfg relase renew AND - my IP stays the same. I can release it ALL NIGHT and when I renew - My IP stayes the same. Dont ask me to explain. Im a hardware person myself...I just know what I have found. I have to REQUEST a new IP to get one...

Most DHCP servers have a config setting that will determine how long you will keep an IP address so if it is set to 6 months than you can release and renew all you want and it will stay the same but then again it all has to do with the server config and platform

Same thing here. Thats exactly what I have done and gone through. Fortunately TW is receptive to IP change requests.
