HOT RODS, CUSTOMS REIGN SUPREME AT GILMORE MUSEUM RELIX RIOT SHOW

HICKORY CORNERS, Mich. -- “No Muscle Cars.” That’s what you’ll note is Rule No. 7 found on the website promoting the annual Relix Riot Hot Rod and Custom Car show. But why, you ask? Because the Relix Riot is a show based around the good old-fashioned hot rods originally built in the 1940’s, 50’s, and ‘60’s. These vehicles won’t have any digital dashes, electronic fuel injection, billet components or rally wheels. This year marked the 12th annual running of the show and was held at the ever-growing Gilmore Car Museum on the west coast of Michigan.



The show’s rule list consists of only nine simple rules; however, you’ll understand the concept behind the show just by reading the first two, which read, “1 - Must be 1964 or earlier Hot Rod or Custom built in the traditional style. No stock vehicles allowed.” And, “2 - Must be a pre-1965 Truck; no stock trucks allowed.” Only the best and most creative rides are allowed here, which makes for a very interesting walk around the grounds of the sprawling Gilmore Museum complex. The show also hosts camping, live bands, a pin-up contest and full set of awards.
