I was at the Ground Breaking ceremonies today at the Showtime Drag Strip/Racetrack and I spoke to Mrs. Yoho (current lease owners of the track). Mr Yoho announced interest in hosting Drifting events at the track once it's ready. Mrs Yoho mentioned that they would like to set up a "drifter" meeting soon. I gave her my business card (my shop is down the street) and she took down my information so that once something will get set up, they will contact me and I can "spread the word" to all drifters and drifting enthusiasts so that they can attend the meeting and express interest. They mentioned that they are "new" to the drifting "thing" but they realize that it is a real event and they want it at the new track.

If a meeting is setup, I will post it on here but also let me know if you are truly interested and would like to have a local location to have drift events and I will PM you directly with specifics once made available.

It looks like it will be a realistic thing that WILL take place should enough attention is expressed for such event.

 

That would be awesome to not have to drive more than an hour for track drifting

I am very interested in drifting here, and I know all my drift friends are too. I'll also be attending just about every drift event here to get media as well.

I have been chatting with the owners online and as of right now, their main focus is fixing the site. It is so sad to see how pathetic the previous lease owners handled their exit. They destroyed everything. They maliciously did so many bad things to the location before they left (11pm the night before)that minutes after ground breaking, The new leasers jumped into it and endless amounts of trucks rolled in. It has been non stop. Since the track is down the street from my shop, I go by often, help out when i can.
They are wanting to have both the dragstrip and the circle/8 track available asap, they just want to fix numerous issues that need addressing first.
Mr Yoho mentioned that the entrance, the God-forsaken pit infested dirt trap of an entrance WILL be paved with crushed asphalt.
They will have homestyle cooking - concessions along with Joto's Pizza will have a location there as well.
New bleachers are coming in since the old ones were death traps and the old leasees bulldozed them.
An Infinite amount of new lighting is going up.
Man the list is endless......

Mrs Yoho told me she would let me know as soon as they have a time set apart to just to meet with DRIFTERS and Drift supporters at Quaker Steak. So that would mean a massive roll out and representation needs to be made in order to give them the right impression.
They said they were "new" to it so a full force representation would be impressive.
Mrs Yoho mentioned that Jason Jiovanni has contacted them about this as well. I mentioned that there are quite a few locals that have made their mark whether at local events or the grand prix exhibition ect.... So as soon as she tells me, I will let you all know.
I go to alot of events and take photos and follow it closely. I havent participated like I've wanted to for many reasons but once I'm done with my current car, i will be partaking of events again.

In addition to TR, are there any other websites to announce this to? I want many many rides to represent.!!!

yeah, she called and stated that there were several that contacted her directly and stated today was the only day they could go so it was a last minute thing.. There will be a meeting for a much larger scale in the near future..

 

If there is an official meeting coming up, with some time inbetween, I can promote this through drifthappens in the hopes of more support rolling out to qsl.

Im sure if there is time to raise awareness and promote, we can get a great turn-out at qsl, all from the area.
