There are acceptable and unacceptable passes. Taking the chance and going for the kill subjugates you to a number of penalties that can cost you the win.

The passing car cannot disturb or force out the lead cars line. Must be done in full drift, front tires must be in counter position not straight, must follow though in full drift and cannot cut across the course or course line in order to achieve this.

The repercussion of a unacceptable pass can give you negative points on transition = steering correction, line = sacrifice clipping point, drift angle = straighten the car to pass, and C.O. course out = off line (picture a wall there? You would have crashed, same as spin). So is it worth it? Only if the lead car makes a BIG mistake.

Dan passing bill should have given Dan negative points.

Bill hitting dan should have disqualified Bill

tandem is supposed to be imitating the opponents line
not taking a different line and getting by on the inside

Basiclly Bill went way to wide, wider than anyone else went all weekend....which was not what the judges were looking for, Dan went inside just like he was told to by the judges and drove right the hell around Bill.

Bill got made to look like a punk so he didn't have any choice but to hit dan.(by choice I mean hes not a good enough driver to use the \brakes\ebrake\throttle\steering angle to keep from hitting Dan.

like (by choice i mean) You could have just avoided hitting him.
You could have just avoided hitting him and tried to pass him back.
