thanks kyle, but before another NON-involved party decides taht your rambling has meritt

normally there is a section there for drifting but since its RAIN MAKEUP and the schedule is done different, i didnt know, so instead of posting a definite, i posted what i knew, perhaps i should lie to make it seem better so then people are mad if im wrong?

now thanks for being another 'more respected member' to put down an event, you are part of the problem if this is your attitude. sarcasm is not needed, thanks for the effort tho.

People were really nice. Beatiful chicks too. Wow!

I got there late around 1:00pm. As soon as i got there they set me up to make a run but i had to cut it short coz my car would not slide and was having some timing issues. I got another run around 5:00 and drifted for about 8 minutes. The track was all mine!!!

Most of the Truck series people got there around 2:00pm so we could have drifted the whole morning if we would have gotten there at 8:00. You can`t beat that for only $25 bucks.

My car was still having issues so i had to give it up and left early.

People kept asking me questions about drifting. They are very interested about it. I guess the Ter-Tech BMW was there las week and put on a great show. They were very impressed. It sucks that im just a beginner.

To tell you the truth i wouldn`t mind going again.

lol no i was the only one there last week ^^....
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...d=687642955&n=2 << tahts video from last week

the tertech bmw motor is blown since StPete GP as well

Glad you had a good time, same thing as me really, car issues or low on tires makes me have to give up 'available' track time... thats why im looking to get some more drivers, to use the time we have when im repair/ changing tires.

good stuff, and yea there are some hot girls taht ride with the race teams.

too bad u didnt get to see the crowd/ drive for them, next event ill post up info soon, a little break tho, i think its 5/27 for that one and its at Port Charlotte Raceway... - a lesser banked, smaller oval, first place i started drifting banks, and a slighty wider easier infield to use

I don't demand nor expect anymore respect than anyone else in this forum...but I degress.

I wasn't 'putting down' the event, I was simply sarcastically pointing out the lack of organization at this event. The 'rain make-up' schedule being the cause of the lack of proper schedule is a fine excuse, and perhaps a valid one...but I've yet to be convinced that this 'fasttruck drift series' is anything but someone's half-assed attempt to capitalize on the 'drift' craze.

I'll explain.

Adding 'DRIFTING!!' to their schedule/flyer/advertisements adds a little "hrm.." and "ooo that's different" factor to their event, and gets curious parties to come out and check out the event...which is mainly comprised of circle track racing. So they add a couple hours here and there of 'drifting' just to draw in some extra crowd they normally wouldn't attract, thus bringing their attendance and 'eye-ball' numbers up. What does that do? Higher attendance numbers (and wider demographics) give them a better opportunity to get more sponsors and support capital for their main source of revenue, the racing series. It's simple Motorsports Marketing - Create a small buzz to bump the numbers (and demographics!) a little bit, and capitalize.

I don't really blame the guy, everyone does similar shit...I just don't see any chance of their little 'sideshow' progressing to anything dedicated, larger or more organized.

Moral of the story: Half-assed attempt, I'm not impressed.

These events were NOT designed to give you uber practice time. It is supposed to be a competition series, like a small FormulaD for florida only. A little practice during day for course setup, qualify, and compete. YES it is only circle tracks but you have to understand, this is what the PROMOTER is ALREADY FRAMILIAR WITH. Once we show interest, and get more than 1 or 2 people at events on a regular basis, the series can actually become what it was intended to do AND if he has the sponsor/spectator numbers to show to NEW VENUES (road course/parking lots... ie non-ovals) that he can bring in a "WIN WIN senario to the venue" they will open up more. you said it perfectly.

AND the MORE important factors:
for those of us that aren't just 'in it to be cool' and are trying to be like rob, matt, bill.... the ones who have already made it, this is a GREAT place to start off.
a) you are infront of a crowd
b) you get competitions experience with a set course (well if people show up)
c) you get to mingle with race teams and learn about how they got where they are
d) you make friends/contacts that you normally would never know
e) you might pickup a sponsor at an event
f) using that your in a competitive series, with a 3000+ crowd, you can independantly pursue sponsors outside of the events (believe it or not, I can't afford FormulaD on my own)
g) fogetting all of that 'marketing'- its still ONLY $25 !? and you get good seat time

the organization is a little lower because if you think about it, they is ADDING a new series to a shedule, and they did quite well IMO because of how much time they allocated for us during the day. I'm sure its MUCH easier to say ok.... its a DDAY, 30 cars, 3 run goups, 2 min run.... wash rinse repeat....**

Bottom Line: if you're looking to be more than just a bandy, and want to get cheap seat time, and pickup sponsors- there is an answer- FAST DRIFTERS.

**I am not bashing the shift-lock events, i still attend those and plan to attend the next one.

uh uh ..... im a lil confused.....ya find some one who will give track time for a petty 25 dollars and expeirence infront of a crowd, which has been bigger than any event ive personally been to, and people are saying its lame? sounds like we have big ballaz who want to pay 75+ dollars and practice in front of their butt buddies! hmmmm.... now i just scanned through but thats how i interpretted this post... logic would be to go to the cheaper one even tho some promoter is making more money still is cheaper and for those who dont take advantage of it seem to have been sniff octane a lil to much!

just my opinion... hope i was on the right track!!! (even if its oval) HAHAHAAA!

use or be used...
