you listed one of the problems is noobs being intimidated or people are afraid to damage their cars i have only been drifting for 8 months and i have seen just as much damage on the streets and in parking lots just as much as a track there are always obsticals walls, trees, mailboxes, cones. it doesnt matter who you are or what your level is know you car and its limits and youll do just fine i personally suck but i know my car and havent hit anything "yet"... so yeah its suck and its scary your first time on a track but just do it and it will all be better and youll love yourself later

I dont know dude, I really dont get what you are saying. I have been drifting for over a year now. Both in the streets, parking lot and tracks. I have never damaged my car in the streets, or parking lot. I went to 4 of the DDays and never had any damages, I entered Hialeah speedway and KABOOM there went my S13, everybody hits something no matter where. So i dont get where you coming from. i do understand those noobs cause if you are new to something and you go to your first drift event and you crash; Where do you think your selfsteem is going to go? So i say a couple of Ghymkhanas and some road courses will help you get better, and then when you have enough car control is when you try an oval. IMO....

up here in memphis we rent a small airport about two hours from us in walnut ridge arkansas. granted it doesn't have the niceness of a track, but it gives you somewhere safe to go out there and try. track fee's at memphis motorsports park aren't too bad, but they are pre-booked a year in advance. mall lots here, out of the question. even if we get permission the cops still run us off. i hate this place, can't wait to be back in central fl again.

i had a track that i used for about 5 events and had zero cars get fucked up. it was a kart track the perfect track to use for drift events. no curbs, no walls, no poles, no trees. in a parking lot setup for driftin you hit a pole either you are really stupid or the event set the track up wrong....go to an autocross and see how they set the track up so if you do over shoot a turn it won't put you towards a pole. cones do not count as an obstical to be scared of hitting. on an oval its just too much of a chance that even the best can lose a car instantly. he can do 20 perfect laps and then one little fuck up and its over. then when he needs a new shell all the posers have them damn it.
