Kandahar drift
I don't know if I should have put this in war stories (i AM at war, actually... it would make sense, right?) but i guess this is something to share with the fellow drifters out there.
I work at this place called shir zai, a afghan national army camp where some US forces work as well. The thing is, this month is ramadan, a muslim holiday, so they go in at noon and pray and don't come out till night. So, that leaves a lot of the grounds empty. Also, the infantry in my unit are out on missions, (and all their deadlined vehicles, we've fixed. we are DAMN GOOD mechanics
)
We have this maintenance truck, called a "contact truck", a chevy custom deluxe with a container in the back for tools and what not... well, it so happens to be auto rwd/4wd... Though we don't have many curves around shir zai, it was almost like a gymkhana (i think i spelled that right) without the cones... So, I choku-dori'd the eff out of this thing. I had enough space to swing it about 5 times. The only thing i was really worried about was tipping it over because of all the weight in the back, so i was only drifting around 20mph. But since its gravel, our "imperial" tires in the back are all chunked up... (YOUR tax dollars hard at work
) j/k. but, ya know though. i'm sure none of you know this. but there's a company that the US hired to help with contracted work (our laundry, construction, food, and other services)... can you believe, the person that's serving ME food is getting paid TWICE what I'm getting paid?! (starting salary a year for KBR employees are SIXTY thousand!!!) that's effin bull!! I'M the one getting shot at, going on missions, and working 6 out of 7 days a week, and they're getting paid more... after my contract's up, I'M OUT... word of advice to all you guys? don't enlist...

HAHA. You've been in the sand way too long. But yeah the service pays crap unless you are a high ranking officer or general. Hell their retirement pay is more than twice what your making.
