I'm sure Mike will do an outstanding job and will make the events bigger and better than ever. I have no doubt he'll do a better job than I did.

As much as I love doing the DG stuff that I do/did, I unfortunately don't have time. In the past 3 months I've been home maybe 7-10 days per month. September and October are shaping up be the same and as of November 1st I'll be in Colorado for 4-5 Months straight...I wish I still had the time.

Anyways, feel free to bombard Mike with all the questions you're used to asking me, he knows what's goin on

PS: I haven't been home in 3 F'ing weeks, I miss Tampa.

If we can be sure that we will have enough drivers to make an event possible in J-ville or South Georgia (SGMP) then we could probably arrange something at these places. Would it be better to look for closer/cheaper/better/different places close to Tampa?

On Tandem: Having more tandem at our events would most definitely kick it up a notch for FL drifting as a whole. However, it is DGtrials' number one goal to provide safe venues to participate in drifting, and we wouldn't be able to compromise that doctrine for any reason, even if it does mean hot double-deep action. On the upside, if people exhibit the consistency, skill and responsibility to perform close quarters drifting with another driver and have the requisite safety equipment (SA helmet, cage, extinguisher) then we might be able to arrange something. Those elements are close to being equally important - a rollcage and fire extinguisher won't help if a driver can't keep his car from spinning in front of someone else while doing 60+ mph into turn one. If people are willing to put up the money for the necessary safety equipment, I might also be able to arrange a group buy from companies like Autopower for cages as well as other manufacturers for other equipment, or even maybe put together a "Safety Package" for people to prep their cars for Tandem.

Clinics may also help with the other half of preparing for Tandem, and we could do them a couple of ways. We could have experienced drivers come down for DDays and have them focus on certian drivers in exchange for a small up in registration price for those participants. Or, we could have private events with the same experienced drivers covering everyone. I'm also open to suggestiong on how to do the clinic deal.

On another similar note: private events are easy to do as long as we have enough drivers at a given price to pay for the insurance and track rental costs, and I will cover this some more in a little bit.

How do you guys prioritize what you get out of events? Personally, the top 5 things I want from an event are:
1 - Safety, or at least resistance to biffing my car on a wall if I go all out
2 - Price, because I can't go if I can't afford it
3 - Seat time for the money
4 - Variety, more than one sweeper or whatever
5 - Distance, because it ultimately factors in to price

if you have events in the Tampa area i will show up early and help set up at every one, including driving in them. south georgia is just too far for some people in the tampa area. and bringing down some experienced drivers for a clinic sounds like a great idea. what other safety requirements are required for tandem besides a cage and fire extinguisher? fuel cut off switch? you could try and set something up at one of the greyhound track parking lots.

I'll pay $15, maybe $20, just to spectate at that Jacksonville track because its worth more than a oval track. Ill go as far as the panhandle and southern GA to support.

Is there some more detailed information on that track in Jacksonville? That track is amazing, but the trees look pretty dangerous. If you look, there is NO room for spectator seatings. The entry of the track isnt very inviting. i dont think this track was ment to be used for sporting events.
Oh, and most definitly, those light poles need to be relocated or barricaded.

*If the owner need bleacher seatings, let me know, my shop fabricate aluminum seatings, and we don't charge much because there is no salesman in the transaction, and our lead time is less than 2 days for 5 of 3 row seatings.*
