i didnt think 240's where considered sports cars. I thought they were like coupes or something. Why dont you get your job first then buy you a car so you can have a actual say in what you want.

Personally id go with a 2nd gen RX7 or a 240.

Learning how to drift in a Miata is going to be challenging. I would go for a Merkur XR4Ti. It was known as the Ford Sierra in Europe. Lots of cool stuff you can get for them. Look into Sierra Cosworth if you want to see some cool ones.

4 wheel independent suspension, RWD, manual tranny available (most are manual actually) and very unique car, plus relatively low insurance I would imagine. Also see Merkur Scorpio aka Sapphire in Europe.

Otherwise I think the Cressida and J30 are definitely cool and not so common.

Oh and as for 80's BMW's.... yes, it's not too hard to add the extra letter W ...... I don't see why they would be bad to drift. 4 wheel independent suspension and good chassis' There are bushings in the rear that are usually worn out by now so replace those and you should be fine. If you can get some stuff fabbed up then reinforce the diff and subframe mounts and you will have a car that is ready for any sort of competition use.

Weight transfer only, you're not allowed to power-over in a pimp heavy car like a Cress.

Nooooooo, no more AE86's in the hands of beginners please. The AE86 is not a car for the inexperienced drifter. AE86 as first drift car = recipe for crunched rare Corolla. The learning curve is just too steep.

82-88 BMW 535i [E28] cheap, reliable torquey as hell, forgiving long wheelbase, faster than a stock 240sx (ask Ray from Enjuku hehe) and funny thing, go to a BMW dealer and 1/2 of the techs who work there have an E28 as their daily driver.
