Read my 'serious' posts regarding 'Insurance', and 'importing cars' and even this one. I am constantly striving to 'INFORM' our members so that they can make an educated decision. If after they read my posts, they decide to do it anyways, that's there decision, but at least they were informed up front.
I'm sorry if I don't agree with some of you that 'hitting things' is part of drifting. I've been to several events, and been 'street drifting' several times, and never came close to hitting anything. Why? it's more because I choose safe events and safe locations.
and fordified, I'm not slamming you personaly. There is an event coming up that has alot of unanswered questions. I can't call from work to get answers, so I must assume that since nobody mentioned a time for a drivers meeting, that there isn't one, or they didn't mention what type of safety equipment (helmet) is required, that they may not require any.

oh my god, jesus, stop taking everything so personally, if youre not the event coordinator than just tell whoever it is that people are unhappy with the lack of information...
NOT A SINGLE PERSON said "$25 is too much"....
NO ONE is bitching about the price.
EVERYONE however seems to wonder about the structure/seat time/safety.... because those things matter.
ANYONE who goes to participate in an event without knowing these things is asking for a bad day.

Since you want to speak about insurance, lets compare the polices, shall we?
Auburndale, Lakeland, Hialeah, etc. All of these tracks have existing policies that cover them for 'motorsports events'. This is annual coverage at a reasonable rate. Divide this coverage between roundy-round cars, car shows and other things that happen at the venue, and yes, it's cheap.
DGTrials on the other hand, does not own a location. They must purchase insurance on a 'per event' basis adn must also include coverage for the track owners. Also, DGTrials has a policy written specifically for 'Drifting' (yes, such a thing exists). Being that this is a new motorsport, the policies are expensive.
So why doesn't DGTrials just lower the cost and allow more drivers? Maybe because they believe in giving people alot of seat time. YOu would be surprised how many drivers leave an event wishing for more seat time....and there are under 40 drivers. What do you think 75 drivers will think?
Apples and Oranges.

IF 40 drivers paid, DGTrials would make $3600. Thats $850 they make per event! Minus gas to carry there equipment, hotel rooms when needed for volunteer staff, website support, the cost of maintaining themselves as a sanctioning body, and of course a little left over for the times they don't have 40 (like december which only had 27 drivers) and you have......oh wait, we're negative. Wow. and they still hold events? They must enjoy what they are doing.

For knowing everything you sure don't know shit. This guy doesn't own Auburndale. He's renting it for the 2 day event. How the fuck does that make him any different than DG Trials? Plus your little calculations didn't factor in spectators or sponsors.
