The DDAY6 Experiece
I had a fun time, hopefully if theres enought time for the next, you guys will see a RX7 running in the event..
Kinda dissappointed not to see one..

I think alot of people had issues becuase they were not running the tires that they expected to run. I was forced to run bald tires all morning, and the bald tires and the new setup I had = the suck.
During lunch, I left and had the new tires mounted (decided not to wait on the enjuku rig). First lap out with the new tires, I let Tony Shultz drive with me as passenger. First turn, he hit the corner in 3rd, got completely sideways...and the car continues to go completely sideways...right towards the hill. After his run, he told me 'your car is one of the few cars that scare me'. He thinks the car rotates way too easily now. He suggested going to a sticker tire in back (currently Kumho ASX). I actually did pretty decent with the new Kumho's though.
BTW: the Advance/Intermediate hot lapping was the shit. I liked that.

I didn't realize how harsh drifting was on FRONT tires.. my BRAND new 512s feathered/chunked, but oh well.. sticky front tires helped me a lot.
Tony rode with me a couple times, and continued to give me great pointers. I think one of my biggest problems is I still haven't gotten over being scared/worried. When you're really sideways, sliding through a turn, it is really intimidating and so temping to tap the breaks to slow down, but that ruins everything and is pretty much guarantees you a spin out.
Also, when Charles (ricerocket) let me drive his car.....gah.. I felt like a complete and total newb to not just drifting.. but driving.. it felt like my first day driving a stick. First, that was the first turbo car I drove, second... he has a friggen heman clutch while I have a pussy autozone clutch.
SR is soooo much different than a KA.
All in all, I learned a lot yesterday, and I was able to combo more than just one turn.
And next time.. bring a tent thingie, sunscreen, and a cooler full of gatorade/water

And at least it blew up just as you predicted instead of totally unexpected.
