Your 'Pros' and 'Cons'?!?
Well, There have been several Drift events in 2004, and if you consider yourself a Drifter, you've made it out to at least one...
So tell us, What's your 'Pros' and 'Cons'?
I'll start...
Pros: The Occasional (and sometimes frequent) good Drifts, and the smoky burnouts I did today with the Falken Azenis St115 (thanks Matt).
Cons: Consistency and fear. They kinda tie together. Because I worry about wrecking or damaging my daily driver, so I back off alot, and that causes me to be inconsistent.
My Future Plan? To become consistent.
Charles

well to me, in the last 3 events, my confidence level has boosted SKY HIGH.... at this event i was able to learn many things..
tire wear and how tires make a BIG DIFFERENCE
proper steering technique, i am more relaxed and i am able to just use throttle control to keep the car in control...
i learned that 235-60-15 tires SUCK and cause me to go into walls!!!! NO DAMAGE!!!
last event (dday4) i learned clutch kick technique...
this event i learned alot about car control with throttle, and that i just need some good tires in the rear...
my official tires for the rear are FATE o 35 .... i love you tires and i could not have asked for a better tire in the last 2 years of my life

Chin Pro's
No Fear, Uumm I do have fear, but for some reason when I get in the car my mind becomes single tracked. Just like when I almost hit the fence.
All dammaged that is caused can be either replaced, or covered over with 30mm wide fenders
. Deffinatly feel I have sweepers down, I enjoy being sideways for longer corners, short slow corners such as any of them like ocala, dont reall please me, but maybe cause I cant combo to well yet. Oh, and my great ablity to speak random japanese!
Cons: Considtancy, haven't gotten the whole feel down yet, but I have deffinatly improved to the point where being sideways doesnt scare me any more (thats just seat time) and I also have a good idea where the car will spin, if I happen to lose it, so i can be prepared kinda. also need to work on my combo's and not being so nervous! You cant tell from any of the video's of my 1st 2 heats, but I felt so nervous, ofcourse there is no room to be nervous while driving, but anytime I wasnt on the course, my heart and stomach were going crazy.
Ill add more later, I just wanna sleep, driving from tallahassee to clearwater, to lakeland and then driving the event really killed me, but im sure a bunch of you went though the same thing!

I think what you have to work with is your biggest asset. IF your car is set up decently, then you have a great shot at going out there and improving each run etc.
When I had the S13 Bill got in my car and comboed Primus, looked over at me and said "Did you get all of that?" I laughed and told him to go fuck himself.
But after that I did catch on and slid a little.
I got the S14 and it was all about technique after that..
Im not subtle in person nor am I in drift. But hey.... thats my style. I tore my lip off a million times drifting the S14 but I got the hang of it.
Not far from now Ill be back out on the track.. improving and overcoming my own insecurities just like everyone eleses...
There natural.
Practice is all you can do to get over them, and even the pros fuck up now and then...

Pros: I'm not afraid out there. I'm willing to ask for drifting help/advice which is something I think people need to do more.
Cons: I need to go a tiny bit faster. I don't practice enough.
Goals: To become an okay drifter (ie: keep up with the 240s). To make people respect the corolla. It gets no love

Pros : able to hold an OK drift with an open diff and NA KA. Haven't spun out yet.
Cons : Haven't spun out yet, and I think that means that i'm not pushing myself hard enough.
Not knowing exactly when to countersteer. I usually just loosen my grip on the wheel allowing for the car to steer itself.. works for the most part..
*shrug*
I have a lot of different ideas in my head just waiting for me to try at dday 5.. so we'll see on sat.
Especially since I welded my diff today.. man o man, it wants to slide like it is in the rain! I can't wait.

Cons:
1. Practice. Every place I go for practice is too populated.
2. Power. Now I don't have enough for my driving style. Before I had more than enough but no differential to exploit it. Someone give me a fucking Mustang fox body with a stick (bone stock) so I can show the tuff core judgmental "gods" that I can drive in their eyes.
3. Tires/wheels. Recent purchases have prevented me from fucking around in anything but an ice storm (which we get tons of here in Florida). So, I need some damn beater rims for the back with some decent beater tires. Dunlop SP901's are awesome grip/touge tires. Several Porsches have fallen to my offramp grip, but that isn't the point.
That is all.

pros: everything kicked ass. actually got to do ride alongs for the price of spectating. yeah. you dont have to pay $100 to ride passenger in a practice drift event. go figure.
cons: i think the track should be cleaned off when there's a lot of sand on it. i wasnt driving but i was passenger and when we spun out there was sand flying everywhere. esp in the eyes.

pros: learning stuffs at every event
#1==tires are the most important factor, bar none (esp for the underpowered out there)
also, lots of frequent events allows everyone a chance to drift and to choose which events to enter and which not to due to lack of dinero
different events
cons: mainly price (i know cheaper than the street....etc) but thats why there are so many now, so we can pick and choose
need more tracks
--OGP is great........every now and then---need events in between on diff tracks
--Lakeland, spectated and wish id entered--definately need more events there (and laps around the oval
--Primus? what,no more?
--find more SPC type events
