Default tire set up

well, i have azenis up front for my se wheels... and i also have slightly used azenis on another set of rims... my question is would u guys recommend using azenis in the rear?? i know they grip sucks when they heat up but how are they for rear tires? i am no expert so i mean i dont need to be that meticulous about my tires yet... thanks

I ran Falken Azenis St115's @ DDAY4, and they GRIP....but I was happier with the "no-name" tires. I Think you need 275+ hp plus to enjoy the falken Azenis....

if they are azenis sport's they actually have lots of grip when hot.
thats why people favor them for autocross/road racing.
probably a good front tire. but probably too grippy for the rear.

k, i have the 205 50 15 falken azenis, and i guess u can say they are pretty worn out... u think they will still grip that well??? i just want to try a diversity of tires...

also i have a set of toyo proxi xxx i forgot what exact model but i have them in 205 65 15... u think that 65 wall might affect the flexx in the rears??

goto junkyard(cophers), find old, (dry rotted if u like) on a junked 240 so the rims match, pay about 50 for the rims+tires, and they should add about 50hp to your cars sliding power ...haha thats the tires i run in the rear on my stock powered SOHC 240.... never had a problem breaking loose cept when the clutch turns to slime.... but DO NOT drive anywhere on them, just use it at the track and dont get ones w/o tread, they should look like a tire still. if u plan on drifting at speeds in excess of 40ish... dont do this, proly bad idea but ocala, u shouldnt be getting much faster i wouldnt think, not in your car.... no insult intended...

65 is a pretty tall tire, so it will have alot more sidewall flex.

with the azenis' ive known of autocrossers running them until they are completely bald, and still getting good grip out of them.

id still try them though, i dont have any personal experience with them on a rwd car, only different fwds.

ive been giving thought to going with 205-55-15 tires on my stock wheels... if i dont go with 16"

yeah, my tires up front are great... falken azenis 205 50 15... in the rear i guess i will continue to use no name brand tires... we shall see how this goes... i imght try the azenis in the rear too while i am at it...

so u guys think i would be wasting time with that 65 wall?

i probably wouldnt do it, a 195/65 would have about the same sidewall as a 205/60, and i dont really think id go much taller.
id imagine the extra flex would make it more unpredictable.

plus everytime you go with a taller tire it affects the gear ratio.

if no name tires work for you, id stick with those..
or keep trying pairs of other name brand tires, maybe used or whatever, until you find one that works better.

No azneis lose all gripping power once they go over their temp. They are good at autoX's because htey are only used for short burst, thus keeping them cold. People put ice water on the tires inbetween runs to keep them cool. Including me and like Marksaccord. I dont know how well they will work for drift jonas, I have seen some of them and I have seen them chunk like the Cum Hoes when overheated. If anything they will get really greesey, they lose there grip once they get down to 1/16 tread. 65 wall tire is fine. I was using the Turenza 195/65/15s for the 1st 2 drift events, and them bitches are bad. But I ran into some cash and now I get to work with FM901's all around, which are also great for drifting FYI. but they are also Cash money Bling Bling
