tire pressure
i was just wondering what tire pressure you guys were running at dday3... also what recommended pressure would you set azenis? so far i noticed on the video that i am editing, that after the big sweeper ther was a right turn, then a left corner... i noticed a lot of cars spiining out at that left transition... it was a bit slippery at times... and i was at 33psi in the rears.. any insight?

33 is kind of low, i run about 35 psi front to back, but let the rear tires get as high as 40. but it varies tire to tire, azenis have a pretty stiff sidewall without the high tire pressure..
yea 33 is WAY low... i run that up front, 32-35 and 40 maybe 40+ depending on surface's grip. your tires will roll over themselves at 33 making drifting much less effective.
lets say there is like normal driving psi that is like 36psi all around for tire "X", now at 33 they will grip a little better because they give to the road some and at 40 they will slide better cuz they arent able to roll on the sidewall as easily. 33 up front makes the steering more responsive with more grip and 40 out back will allow for them to slide smoother and more consistent. however if you lower it too much you will lose all grip because the tire will roll over the sides like crazy. these numbers are not for every tire, but you have to play with what you have to fit your stlye. the profile of the tire can also effect what psi to run, the smaller the sidewall the more resistence to rolling onto it.
also look at the manufacture's suggested max psi. some are 40 some are 44, i personally dont over inflate because im not sure how much extra psi i get from heating the tires(and the air inside=more pressure) from drifting and dont need any kinda of problem.

yes but when ur running on high performance its cuz ur car is and the better setup your car is the less tire pressure is gonna play.... i mean its still very important but yea u have other factors that help more.... and jonas isnt running uber performance tires

I was running about 35 up front and around 40ish for the rears....my rear tires have a shitty sidewall though, even at 40 they flex way more than what I have up front. I probably should've jacked the pressure up a little more...I noticed on the way home that any steering input would take awhile to reach the back of the car due to all the give from the sidewalls.
Optimum traction will probably be the lowest psi that doesn't cause the tires to roll over onto their sidewalls....if you have too much air in the tires you'll have a smaller contact patch than you should.
the tight left corner coming out of the first section of track probably caused people to spin because their oscillation from over-correcting finally exceeded what their suspension could handle. I spun once or twice there from using too much "feint" angle with a huge correction causing the car to snap around. On stock suspension it probably would've been a huge bastard because you have about 4 transitions worth of energy built up in your suspension by that point.

so what pressure would you recommend for azenis on a drift day?

assuming your money situation is similar to mine, youre not burning through azenis in the rear. if youre talking 205s up front, i would say 35psi is about good. a lot of people (myself included) who looped it in that sweeper were too heavy on the throttle, or just coming in too hot to manage their speed, so tires may not be the problem.
2 lbs of air pressure makes more difference than most people would guess, id give it a try, but trying different runs at different pressures is the best way to find what makes your comfortable. check it after every round!
Yea its all about sidewall flex! Most tires say 44 max psi but I wouldn't suggest running more then 40 psi max and less then 35psi! Try one lap with 40 psi and then another with 35 psi, and see which your comfortable with and adjust from there! If you find yourself understeering add more air and less if you oversteering! It sound significant and I thought people were messin with me but you will notice 2 psi makes does make a difference!
